Event Name: Run Your Merry Pace 2024
Location: Davie, Florida

On a "chilly" Florida morning (yes, 62°F counts as cold for us Floridians!), over 200 runners gathered at the starting line of the Run Your Merry Pace 5K in Davie. The event, organized by The Pace Project T.C., brought together runners of all ages and abilities for a festive celebration of community and fitness.

As the sun began to paint the sky in golden hues, runners sporting everything from holiday-themed attire to performance gear took their positions. Some wore layers to combat what locals considered "winter weather," though our northern visitors couldn't help but chuckle at the sight of mittens and ear warmers in 62-degree temperatures. By mid-morning, as temperatures climbed toward a comfortable 79°F, those extra layers were tied around waists or discarded altogether.

The diverse group of participants truly embodied The Pace Project T.C.'s mission of inclusivity. From seasoned athletes pushing for personal bests to families enjoying a morning stroll together, and even a few four-legged participants wagging their tails along the course, everyone found their own "merry pace." The sight of a young runner in sporty sunglasses keeping stride with determination was just as inspiring as watching experienced runners maintaining their impressive race pace.

What made this event particularly special was the overwhelming sense of community support. Runners encouraged each other along the course, sharing smiles and words of encouragement. The joy was infectious - from the runner with bib #1010 throwing up victory signs to the participant sporting festive green shamrock socks, everyone seemed to embrace the spirit of the event.

The Pace Project T.C. outdid themselves with organization and attention to detail. Race bibs featured fun holiday designs, and the course was well-marked and staffed with enthusiastic volunteers. The organization's commitment to creating an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome was evident in every aspect of the event, from the pre-race briefing to the post-race celebrations.

As a sports photographer capturing these moments, what stood out most was the authentic joy on runners' faces. Whether they were sprinting toward a personal record or simply enjoying a morning run with friends, each participant contributed to the event's vibrant atmosphere. The Run Your Merry Pace 5K wasn't just another race - it was a celebration of community, health, and the simple joy of moving at whatever pace feels right.
